2024 Nampa Art Festival  explaining the process to a couple of patrons.
I have been an artist most of my life.  Starting out when very young sketching  people, animals and landscaping, then graduating  to oils, acrylics and water colors.
Until recently, I have found my passion in creating fluid resin paintings.
My inspiration comes from nature itself when designing my works of art.
I got involved with rockhounding with our son and found  it to be very rewarding in itself.  Loving the outdoors and nature,  I realize there is much more than what we can see.
Once we found the rocks we wanted, we then cut them open with our slab oil saw and were amazed at what was inside.
The variety of colors, textures and natural designs within the rock that took nature millions of years to form from the natural elements of rain, snow and minerals  got me to thinking, why not incorporate these beautiful slabs into my fluid paintings.  Through experimenting with different techniques,  I finally found what worked and then added another dimension,  I included lighting behind each slab.  Wow,  I was thrilled  with the end results.  The remote control  that changes the various light settings and the ability to set a timer was the finishing touch. So, a rock is not always a rock until it's opened up.
